The first time I learned the name of these flowers, “Easter Lily,” was after I tried to identify the flowers I saw growing on the ground in a dream. In a season where it felt like everything in me and around me was decaying and dying, the Lord gave a promise of the hope of new life. At the time, I was a college dropout with little hope of ever finishing my degree, we had just had me fitted for a power wheelchair, and all my hopes and dreams seemed to have turned to ashes and dust. For a long time, I couldn’t even paint as I was mostly bedridden. But there in the middle was this symbol of resurrection, purity, and hope. Though nothing in my circumstances changed right away, God keeps every promise He makes, whether it’s now or in eternity. By His grace, over the next few years, I’d end up never using the wheelchair and starting to improve and be able to walk instead, I returned to college and graduated, and slowly in the middle of what has again feel like a season of death and barrenness facing many challenges and griefs, He’s making a way for me to make art, write, and share it with you. So I painted this lily to remember that for all that’s dead, dying, and decaying, there will be resurrection. Jesus will make all things new one day, if not now, when we are with Him in eternity, just wait.
