Knit Together

Knit together was painted in watercolor late one night in my dorm room in 2023. With a dozen other projects with deadlines in progress, I felt the sudden urge to paint a new picture. It felt urgent so I sat down and painted it in one sitting. It felt like a tangle of cords or DNA being intertwined together, spun, and woven. It reminded me of the intentionality and perfection of God and that He’s never made a mistake or accident. Resting in this promise, we can trust our lives matter and have purpose, that they were planned long before our conception, and that whatever may come God knows us and cares about every intricate detail of our lives.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16
